چکیده

Abstract Alasia Nuti’s important recent book, Injustice and the Reproduction of History: Structural Inequalities, Gender Redress (2019), makes many persuasive interventions. Nuti shows how structural injustice theory is enriched by being explicitly historical; in theorizing historical-structural injustice, she lays bare mechanisms injustices history reproduce themselves. For Nuti, patterns are not only shaped habitual behaviors that or appear to be morally permissible, but also individual wrongdoing powerful group agents like states. In this article, I extend rich analysis, focusing on two questions arise from her injustice: (1) Beyond blameworthy for wrongful acts themselves, culpable wrongdoers contributing injustice? (2) Does historical moral ignorance mitigate responsibility past Regarding (1), distinguish between local societal effects wrongdoing. Though think distinction well-founded, it ultimately leads tensions with theory’s idea ordinary individuals blameless reproducing unjust structures. (2), argue even though natural question considering wrongdoing, at least case agents, we should overlook forms cruelty which present-day concepts needed condemn.
